ENSlick Nickel-Teflon

Electrolurgy’s ENSlick Electroless nickel-Teflon® is a nickel-phosphorous-polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) co-deposit on metal substrates. Our proprietary process yields a surface with the engineering properties of nickel and the additional lubricity of Teflon®. As with standard electroless nickel, the deposit occurs through a non-electrolytic chemical reaction that creates a consistent, repeatable coating of uniform thickness. This makes it possible to effectively coat parts with sharp edges, deep recesses, seams, threads, and complex geometries. In some cases, the use of our ENSlick nickel-Teflon® provides lubricity sufficient to eliminate the use of other lubricants.

Teflon coating
Electrolurgy’s ENSlick coating can withstand temperatures up to 475 Degrees F. The appearance of the plated finish is usually dull silver-gray, and can be used as a non-reflective coating for military applications. ENSlick can be applied over a variety of base materials including stainless steel, aluminum, copper, brass and others.

DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
- The ENSlick plating process is aqueous and takes place at a temperature of 190 F.
- While the process applies a uniform coating on all geometries, adequate solution flow is required. Blind holes or obstructed areas may receive less coating.
- Stainless steels and non-ferrous substrates may require post-plate thermal treatment to improve deposit adhesion.
- High-phosphorous electroless nickel will often discolor when given post-plate thermal treatment for maximum surface hardness.
